John Huntriss Ritson was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire in c. 1896. He practised as an architect and by 1927 was in partnership with William Poskitt Watson (1896-1971) in Hull, Yorkshire as Watson & Ritson. The address of the practice was given as Monument House, Alfred Gelder Street, Hull in 1927 and City Chambers, Savile Street Hull in 1934 and 1939. They remained in partnership until at least 1939.
Ritson was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1934. He died in Scarborough in 1967
