He was an upright magistrate, a faithful friend
A kind husband, a tender parent, a good Christian
and blest with an affability of manners
Which falls to the lot of few
Was during life respected
And at his death regretted by all who knew him
His widow in testimony to her affection to him
Caused this memorial to be erected
Note that the death notice for Elizabeth, his daughter, states she was his youngest daughter.
